Country: Germany
German renewable energy operator, active in geothermal field for the direct uses exploitation and involved in survey activities. GTN was founded in 1990 by experts in the field of geology, drilling engineering, technological development, construction, running, maintenance and repair of geothermal heating plants. Main fields of experience are: geology (hydrogeology; structural- and reservoir-geological assessment of pre-Tertiary rock strata; engineering geology), geotechnics (drilling engineering; consultancy on the cleaning-up of abandoned hazardous sites, dumping sites and landfills), groundwater management and modelling (groundwater monitoring; geohydro- and geothermodynamic modelling), geothermics (utilisation of thermal brine for heat recovery and balneology; aquifer heat and cold storage; heat sources for heat pumps), licensing procedures (Water Act, Mining Code, Federal Immissions Act), building installation practice, thermal water conditioning, technology and equipment for balneological facilities and water fun parks, and power engineering (energy concepts; heating stations; cogeneration plants; district heat supply systems; renewable sources of energy). Previous experience in European research for geothermal energy use was mainly gained during the participation in European co-operation in geothermal research and underground heat and cold storage as well as during the supervision of the installation of the energy supply system including aquifer heat and cold storage for the German Parliament buildings in Berlin (including production and injection wells).
